MRI Tech Remote

CHALLENGE: Resonance Technology manufactures virtual reality and audio displays for MRI applications. They wanted to enable technicians to remotely control the functions of, and communicate with, their patient through virtual reality goggles. Their MRI Technician Remote would need to feature four backlit mouse wheels, a large backlit talk button, microphone, and a forty-character LCD display with several LED light bar indicators.

SOLUTION: Based on the success of past projects, Resonance Technology once again engaged Accurate Design to create the product design, based on a clay model it had provided. Modeled in SolidWorks, Accurate Design's product design concept was designed to function in a similar fashion to a mouse wheel. Their solution allowed the technician to operate the remote comfortably with either the left or right hand and called for the LCD display to hover over the hand for easy viewing.

RESULTS: This attractive and functional product has injection molding in three pieces: the base, the neck, and display cover. A heavy metal base was used to provide weight and stability to the remote.
